Canadian Association of Couple and Family Therapy (CACFT) ConferenceMay 23-24 May 24 Workshop: Attunement and Re-Attunement: Building Secure Relationships in our Diverse World Abstract: Individuals often struggle with self-attunement and relational harmony in a world characterized by diverse backgrounds and varying experiences—including culture, family of origin, and religion. This disconnection can resonate like the discordant sounds of untuned musical instruments, resulting in relational strife and attachment insecurity. Attachment Science and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) serve as essential "tuning forks," guiding clients toward a deeper understanding of themselves and promoting healthier connections with others. Much like musicians must continuously tune their instruments, individuals must engage in ongoing attunement and re-attunement processes to cultivate and maintain secure relationships. By integrating principles of Attachment Science and EFT into therapeutic practice, clinicians can facilitate this vital process, ultimately fostering resilience and emotional well-being in their clients.
