Workshop Description
Emotion is not simply something to regulate in therapy — it is the engine of change.
Yet many therapists find themselves skating on the surface of emotion rather than truly accessing, deepening, and transforming it in their clients’ lived experience. Clients intellectualize. They become flooded. They shut down. Sessions remain insightful — but not transformative.
This experiential and practical training is designed to help therapists move beyond talking about feelings and into working directly with emotional experience — safely, precisely, and effectively.
Grounded in attachment science and experiential therapies (including Emotionally Focused Therapy), this workshop provides practical, cross-model skills that can be integrated into any clinical orientation. Whether you practice EFT, CBT, psychodynamic therapy, IFS, EMDR, pastoral counselling, or an integrative approach, you will leave with concrete tools to deepen emotional processing and facilitate lasting change.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Track emotional process moment-to-moment in session
2. Access core emotion beneath reactivity and defenses
3. Work effectively with emotional avoidance, numbing, and intellectualization
4. Regulate overwhelming affect without shutting down the therapeutic process
5. Identify and work through their own blocks when engaging emotional depth

This training is ideal for therapists who want to move their work from insight to transformation — from understanding emotion to harnessing its power.
You will leave with a clear process map, practical interventions, and greater confidence working at the edge of emotion where meaningful change occurs.

Continuing Education
The Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy (CACFT) has approved 7 Continuing Education Hours for this training.
These hours may be used toward the continuing education requirements of your regulatory Colleges (e.g., CRPO) and professional Associations (e.g., CACFT).

Regular Fee: $180 per person
