Seminar: The First Five Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy SessionsMar 13, 2026, at 12-1:30 pm Description Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps couples move from distress to connection. Research shows that 70–75% of couples experience recovery, and approximately 90% report significant improvement in their relationship. In this practical and engaging workshop, participants will explore how to skillfully navigate the first five sessions of EFCT. While Dr. Johnson refers to these early sessions as the “assessment phase,” this period is far more than information gathering—it is foundational. The first five sessions set the emotional tone, therapeutic alliance, and strategic direction for the work to come. Through focused teaching, practical handouts, and video demonstrations, participants will learn how to build safety, attune to attachment dynamics, and begin the process of cycle de-escalation.
