May 15, 2021 9:30 am-12:30 pm EST Description "EFCT Stage 2: Withdrawer re-engagement" is the fourth instalment of the Online EFCT workshops series that will help you hone your EFT skills. This workshop is for participants who have some working knowledge of EFT. In this workshop, you will learn practical strategies in counselling couples in EFCT Stage 2. Stage 2 includes: Accessing disowned attachment emotions & needs, helping the client to accept their partner's experience, and facilitating each partner's expression of needs. Stage 2 aims to help couples restructure their bond by assisting them to have new interactional responses. There are 2 major shifts in EFCT stage 2 work: withdrawer re-engagement and pursuer softening. In this fourth instalment of the workshop, we will discuss how to work with the withdrawer's re-engagement. We will focus on crucial Stage 2 techniques like evocative responses, heightening, enactments, etc. Special attention will be paid to lowing the withdrawers' emotional blocks (who are traditionally more shut down emotionally) to deepen their emotions. Teaching methods will include short, concise teachings, video clips, demonstrations, and role-plays.
Emotionally Focused Therapy is a systemic model created by Dr. Sue Johnson. Research finds that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery, and approximately 90% shows significant improvement. The workshop will:
Focus on key techniques relevant to stage 2, such as evocative responses, heightening, etc.
Teach you how to access and deepen the emotions of withdrawers
Examine and lower the typical blocks of withdrawers
Show you how to do stage 2 enactments for withdrawers
Examine the key indicators in moving to Stage 2's part of the pursuer's softening
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the workshop, the learner should be able to:
Use EFT techniques such as evocative responses, heightening, etc. to deepen emotions
Access and stay with the primary emotions of the withdrawers
Lower the typical blocks of withdrawers
Do stage 2 enactments
Recognize when they are ready to move towards pursuers softening
